East Valley Athletes for Christ

Basketball Camps and Tryouts

Hi ,

All camps, for those teams holding them, and tryouts for all teams will be held during the month of October.  Conditioning camps are optional but rather helpful for the coaches and productive for the players.  The Boys Varsity/Junior Varsity camp will be combined with their tryouts.

All players desiring to attend a conditioning camp and/or tryout must have a parent or legal guardian signed EVAC medical release form.   These can be pulled in advance from the front page of the old EVAC web site, www.evacsports.com, or the coaches will have them at the courts.

For any team tryout, a player must attend at minimum one tryout date unless prior arrangements are made for a personal workout with the respective coach.  Even if you attended a High School tryout, you still must attend a Junior High tryout if you were not successful

Teams will be announced as soon as possible after tryouts.  We try and place as many kids as possible and ask that you spread the word so that we can keep East Valley Athletes for Christ successful.

Age restrictions are for Varsity/Junior Varsity you cannot be 19 years old before Sept 1, 2014 and Junior High you cannot be 15 years old before Sept1, 2014.

All players desiring to tryout must qualify as a home schooled student per the guidelines on the same web site identified above.

If you have any questions please contact athletic director David Weiss at 602-677-5157.

Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity

As stated direct from the Varsity boys' coach:

Calling all high school young men who love the greatest game ever invented.

Of course that means basketball.

My name is Nate McAvoy and I have the honor of being the head varsity coach for the defending Southwest U.S. homeschool basketball champions (EVAC Eagles).

We are once again having a conditioning/skills camp. It will also serve as a time for the varsity and JV coaches to figure out who fits best on each team (aka tryouts).  Unless we have a smaller than expected turnout, we will have two varsity and one JV team this year.  So many young men wanting to lay it on the line for 6 months and be a part of the team; it’s awesome!

Who: Camp is open for any high school aged young man.  You don’t have to be homeschooled.  You don’t have to tryout for EVAC boys basketball.  (If you do want to be on a team and you can’t make any of these nights, you can contact me for a fair tryout)

What:  During the conditioning/skills camp we will get in shape, improve our basketball IQ, run some drills and play some games

When:  3 Thursday nights from 7pm to 9pm.  October 9th, 16th and 23rd

Where:  Crossroads Church –NEC corner of 101 and Ray –2950 W Ray Rd, Chandler, AZ 85224

Cost:  $15 covers all 3 nights

Where else would you want to be then on the court with the fellas?
